In the magical land of Middle-earth, Elves, Men, Dwarves, Hobbits, Orcs, and many other creatures dwell and good against evil is the constant struggle. Tolkien chronicled many years of these wars.

This theme chess set depicts characters from the War of the Ring, near the end of Tolkien's famous works, and particularly details many of the characters involved in the Ringbearer's Quest. Frodo Baggins, Sam Gamgee, the Dunedain Aragorn, the Lady Arwen of the Elves, and the whole cast of evil geniuses engage in combat in the greatest thinking game of all time!

The War of the Ring encompasses several millenia, from the time the One Ring was forged in the fires of Mount Doom by the evil Lord Sauron, with the secret inscription of, "...One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them..." Sauron deceptively forged the One Ring in secret, to rule the three rings of the Elven folk, the seven rings of the Dwarf-Lords, and the nine rings for the Men, which he had all made and deceived their owners as to their true purpose.

The film series of the Lord of the Rings covers the End of the War of the Ring, Sauron's last rising, and the events leading to the destruction of the One Ring in an exciting and action-filled film, highly acclaimed by all critics.
